TRANSMISSION FESTIVAL DE CINE Y MUSICA 2013

Hace poco tuvo lugar en La Casa Encendida, Obra Social de Caja Madrid, la segunda edición del Festival de cine y música. Para aquellos que no lo conozcan, TRANSMISSION es uno de los festivales más importantes que hay en España de este género. Se trata de unos encuentros internacionales de cine enfocados a proyecciones de documentales y largometrajes con temáticas musicales inéditas, que se han convertido en una sub-cultura típica de la sociedad digital actual y abierta a todo tipo de música, artistas, narrativas visuales, espectáculos etc. Durante una semana se han sucedido una serie de documentales, películas, clases y actuaciones en directo que han hecho del festival un acontecimiento musical completo y multidisciplinar.  

Después del gran éxito de la pasada edición, este año los temas principales del Festival fueron el rock and roll y la canción internacional de los años ‘70-’80. Retrocedimos en el tiempo y nos cautivarnos con la época de la desobediencia juvenil con la película "Rock & Roll High School" o los relatos sobre la carrera casi treintañera de los Ramones con Ramones Raw. Pudimos deleitarnos con los retratos de grandes artistas como el de B.B. King con "The Life of Riley", Johnny Cash en "My Father and the Man in Black", o Jerry McGill en "Very Extremely Dangerous", la historia de éste gran artista del rock en continua lucha con sus demonios: el cáncer y las penas carcelarias por ser también ladrón de bancos. Otros documentales que se proyectaron  dignos de ser nombrados fueron: "Radio Unnameable" y la revolución en la escena radiofónica de los años ‘60-‘70 gracias a Bob Fass, "This Band is So Gorgeous" sobre la primera gira en China de la mítica banda británica de los ‘70 Sham 69, "Two Door Cinema Club", que documenta los momentos íntimos de una banda mientras se preparan para una gira anual mundial, y "Search of Blind Joe Death. The Saga of John Fahey" sobre este legendario guitarrista, compositor y provocador fallecido en 2001.  

El Festival se cerró el pasado domingo 30 de junio con dos grande espectáculos, el primero Clamores Jazz 30 Años de Música en lo que pudimos asistir a actuaciones de grandes artistas como Ara Malikian y Fernando Egozcue Quinteto, Chano Domínguez, Jerry González y Bob Sands Big Band; seguido por un gran concierto con sesiones de DJs de importante calibre internacional como Davil Holmes, DJ Uncle Mike o la ex líder Transmission Vamp, Wendy James.

“TRANSMISSION” A FILM AND MUSIC FESTIVAL OF MADRID

The second edition of film and music festival was recently held at the Casa Encendida, Obra Social de Caja Madrid. For those who don’t know it, TRANSMISSION is one of the most important festivals in Spain of this genre. It is an international meetings of cinema focused on projections of documentaries and features films with news musical themes which have become a subculture typical of the digital current society and open to all kinds of music, artists, visual narratives, performances etc... There have been succeeding a number of documentaries, films, classes and live performances during a week that had made of this festival a musical event complete and multidisciplinary.

After the great success of last edition, this year the Festival's main themes were the rock and roll and the international song of the '70s-'80s. We went back in time and we were captivated by the period of juvenile disobedience with the movie "Rock & Roll High School" or stories about the almost thirties career of the Ramones with Raw Ramones. We delighted us with portraits of great artists as BB King with "The Life of Riley", the Johnny Cash in "My Father and the Man in Black", or Jerry McGill "Very Extremely Dangerous", the history of this great rock artist in ongoing struggle with his demons: cancer and prison sentences for also being a bank robber. Other documentaries that were screened and were worthy of being named were: "Radio Unnameable" and revolution in radio scene of the '60s-'70s thanks to Bob Fass, "This Band is So Gorgeous" about the first tour in China of this legendary British band of the '70 Sham 69, "Two Door Cinema Club", documenting intimate moments of a band while preparing for a annual world tour and "Search of Blind Joe Death.The Saga of John Fahey", about this legendary guitarist, songwriter and provocateur died in 2001.

The Festival closed on Sunday June 30 with two big shows, the first Clamores Jazz 30 Years of Music where we could attend performances by great artists like Ara Fernando Egozcue Malikian Quintet, Chano Dominguez, Jerry Gonzalez and Bob Sands Big Band, followed by a great concert with DJ sets from major international caliber as Davil Holmes, DJ Uncle Mike or Transmission former leader Vamp, Wendy James.
