More "Star Wars" - But Will It Be The Same?

The fact is that new plans have already been revealed for the filming of a new addition to the legendary saga - Star Wars: Episode 7, due to premiere in 2015.

This new release brings surprises, the greatest of which is the purchase of Lucasfilm by The Walt Disney Company. Lucasfilm was founded by filmmaker George Lucas.

Disney agreed the terms of the acquisition with George Lucas who was 100% shareholder in the company. Disney will pay half of the sales in cash and the rest with approximately 40 million share in Disney.

“It is time for me to pass Star Wars to a new generation of film directors. I have always believed that Star Wars might survive me and I thought that it was important to establish the transition during my life", said 68-year-old George Lucas. In June he had already transferred the responsibility for management of the company to Kathleen Kennedy. Kennedy, who was the copresident, is now the president of Lucasfilm, inside the group Disney.

As I mentioned earlier, we will have episode 7 of the saga, but it looks like it won´t end there. The president and delegated adviser of Disney, Robert A. Iger, has confirmed there will be a new trilogy. This tells us there will be more Star Wars after Star Wars: Episode 7.

There is still no date for the release of chapters 8 and 9, but Iger has communicated to the followers of the saga that they intend to launch a new film “every two or three years”.

Disney adds Lucasfilm to other companies in its group, like the sports television channel ESPN, ABC general channel, the animation studio Pixar and Marvel superhero world.

Let's hope that the fact of Lucasfilm being taken over doesn't harm Star Wars saga.

    Saludos!
